Just printed a letter.  Went to print a second letter and received the error message "Missing or Failed Printhead".  The guide on the computer recommended to use the "Show Me" feature but that did not work (that is, nothing new was displayed on the screen).

Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

I understand that you are getting a failed Printhead error when trying to print from your HP OfficeJet 7610

I'll try my best to help 👍

Let's start with a Printer Reset

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.
(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed

Re: Missing or Failed Printhead 7610. I want to share a fix that worked for me on my HP OfficeJet 7612 printer which is part of the HP Officejet 7610 (series) printers. Please go to the web page link below to read all the posts and also my post on that page. Just FYI I did not have to or was required to update any firmware FYI. Good luck to you. The page in the  HP Community  is: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Inkjet-Printing/OfficeJet-7612-Master-Reset/m-p/7019780#M783765

Thanks Krazy T. on July 21 2018. This instruction you gave is very knowledgeable and  helpful and the very first step instruction one may take to clear a printhead error. I did find this did not work for me but I did get my OfficeJet 7612 (7610 series printer) working with further steps that are hidden from the consumer that only HP printer technicians or HP authorized repair services may know. These are very simple steps which are a matter of in addition to your power reset only requiring to hit a sequence of keys on the printer keypad.  A printhead error does not always mean a printer with a hardware (physical mechanical) problem. I would like to share an HP Community page that provides even further instruction if the power reset does not work for some. I found my solution here and My printer is fixed! https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Inkjet-Printing/OfficeJet-7612-Master-Reset/td-p/6625764
