Kumar's solutions didn't work, and "congratulations on the new printer" is like rubbing salt in the wound of having to shell out a lot of money when really HP should be working to find other solutions. The problem with this whole printhead situation is no that the printhead failed, it's that it failed after light use for some, and hp solutions stop when they would have to start providing replacements. There are replacement printheads out there but all of the vendors are charging the price of a new printer - and I'm sure hp knows this.
So, now, instead of replacing a small part for an exorbitant amount of money, we have to get rid of a perfectly good printer.
Why, HP? Why do you not offer replacement heads?
If your products are great and will last a while, then why not offer replacement parts for general problems like this??
I would much rather spend money on a small part and keep fixing my perfectly good unit, then have to buy a new product and contribute to waste.
So, I now have to decide if I want to give money to HP or some vendor who also knows these parts are in short supply.

First of all, I am a former HP employee, in the peripheral sales arena. The best thing about HP printers WAS their reliability. I now have an HP OfficeJet 8610. On Monday, 4/20/2020, the printer worked just fine, but the ink was running low. I had some HP cartridges, so I replaced all. I got the "missing, failed, or incorrectly installed" error message. I took them out, reinstalled the old cartridges that had worked 5 minutes before - got the same error. I did a hard reset at that point - got the same error. So I reinstalled the new cartridges one at a time - no luck. I gave up and bought new HP cartridges ($115). Same deal, all the same steps multiple times, including cleaning the print heads. I now have an inexpensive anchor with very expensive cartridges. There are no current printers that use the same cartridges. I am, needless to say, extremely unhappy. I will buy a new printer and it will not be an HP.

So far everyone with this problem is just buying a new printer? OMG, well it won't a an HP for me again. I can't believe that is all the tech support we get. There is NOTHING that can be done?
Like all of the comments I read, I've tried all the tricks to no avail. I'm so disappointed. ;-( And out $100's yet again.

The accepted solution is to buy a new printer?
That sounds like an accepted solution by HP - sounds great for HP revenues.
Buying a new printer is not a solution to a failed printhead. A replacement printhead is a solution for a failed printhead.
Also why does no information exist on the error codes of the printhead?
