Hi

When I print multiple pages (any more than 1 page), the printing gets more and more out of alignment.

For example, page 1 will be fine.  Then the 2nd page will be a bit out of alignment and then the 3rd page wll be even further out of alighment, etc.

I've included some pictures below to give you an idea (I've covered up identifying details with an extra piece a paper...so that's why the folded paper is there).

I am not getting any error messages about paper feed/paper jams and it happens on plain paper as well as thicker paper.  I can print the same pages, not problems, on my work printer (which is also an Officejet 8740).

Any ideas?  Thanks.

Thank you for being a part of HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

Power resetting the printer, cleaning the printhead and re-aligning the printer may resolve the issue. Let's try these steps:

Please ensure the printer is up-to-date with its firmware. If you are unsure, you may use the steps available here to update the printer firmware.

1) Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector

2) Remove all of your ink cartridges from the printer and close the door

3) Remove the power cord from the back of the printer (Do no press the power button)

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer

5) Wait for the printer to turn on completely, then install the ink cartridges.

6) On the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Setup icon .

7) Swipe up on the display, and then touch Printer Maintenance.

😎 Touch Clean Printhead, and then touch Continue. Touch Clean Again to continue the next level of cleaning. Repeat these steps for the third cleaning stage.

9) On the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Setup icon .

10) Swipe up on the display, and then touch Printer Maintenance.

11) Touch Align Printhead, and then touch Continue.

Let me know how it goes!
