HP Envy Inspire 7900

Hi so I recently got the above printer and some things are just really annoying me.  I hope someone can help.  i am using it with a Lenovo Ideapad laptop.

I frequently print A4 size photos onto photo paper using the Photo app.  Why does it always default to landscape when I go to print.  I have checked the HP Smart app setup and options and also the same if choosing the actual printer from the dropdown box.

Also it takes ages to start printing when I choose the Smart print option in the photo app or Word.

The biggest annoyance is that sometimes it just doesn't go to print at all and I can't see if anything is in the print queue.  When I open the print queue from the arrow on the bottom menu bar of my laptop it just disappears and goes into a different file options.  If I look on the print queue through settings it says nothing waiting on either the HP smart app or the printer name option.

I hope someone can work out what I mean and help me out!  Many thanks

You’ve completely overwhelmed me with info there! Don’t even know where to start.

Understood - I think I mis-understood at least part of what you needed.

I could not think how to fix the post to suit - I've removed it instead to make room for someone else to answer.

Essentially, apps open how they will -- "why" they open in particular defaults depends on the application.

In general, applications provide fewer options than does a full program.

For example, the Full Feature Software understands both defaults and custom shortcuts (presets).

Photos (Microsoft) and HP Smart (HP) both use a basic "starting place" to present options - no custom shortcuts.

There's more but I think I might be tripping back into TMI (too much information).

I do not know why your attempts to create a job sometimes fail.

I would guess there are either issues in Print Services or that the job setups contain conflicts (errors).

Good Luck.
