After changing ink cartridges in my printer, I started receiving an error message that says:

NOTICE: the printer was not turned off properly. To avoid damaging the printer always use the power button to turn it off.

It then it flashes a blue screen with the code 017393CE7 which then goes to a black screen that says:

PRINTER ERROR:  There is a problem with the printer.  Turn the printer off, then back on.

However, the printer power is alread off at this point so when I push the power button it just repeats this process. I have unplugged it and removed the cord from the back of the printer but still get the same messages.

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP Officejet pro 6975 Printer. I understand that you are getting printer error and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well

Reset the printing mechanism.

  1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

  3. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

  4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  5. Wait at least 60 seconds.

  6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

       NOTE:

HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

  9. Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Try to print.

Clear jammed paper from the printer.

Make sure the carriage can move freely.

Make sure the ink cartridges are inserted correctly.

Click here and refer the document to perform the above steps.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.

The cartridges were under the cover but I was able to remove them anyway. When I plugged the printer back in it powered up and says the system is working. Won't know about printing until I get new ink but atleast it is powering up now.
