HP DeskJet 4133e All-in-One Printer
macOS 15.0 Sequoia

My HP 4133e is flashing orange with the "i" light and displaying an "E" & "0" on the panel. I have removed the printer from my MacBook and trying to reinstall it -- but the "add printer" function cannot locate it. I have turned the router, MacBook and printer (including unplugging) off and on several times, to no success.

Hi @burmeze,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how frustrating it is when your HP DeskJet 4133e suddenly stops working, especially when it used to print just fine from your MacBook running macOS 15.0 Sequoia. That flashing orange “i” light and the “E0” error code are your printer’s way of asking for help, and I’m here to guide you through it.

1. Power Reset the Printer

This helps clear temporary glitches.

  • With the printer on, unplug the power cord from the back.
  • Unplug it from the wall outlet.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in directly to a wall outlet (not a surge protector).
  • Turn the printer back on.

2. Check and Reseat Ink Cartridges

  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove both cartridges.
  • Gently wipe the copper contacts with a lint-free cloth.
  • Reinsert them firmly until they click into place.
  • Close the door and check if the error clears.

3. Replace Faulty Cartridge (if needed)

If the error persists:

  • Try replacing the cartridge that’s causing the issue.
  • Use genuine HP cartridges. Setup cartridges won’t work if the printer has already been initialized.

Reconnecting to Your MacBook

Once the error is resolved:

  1. Reset the printer’s network settings:
    • Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons together until the power light blinks.

  2. Reinstall via HP App:

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
