I have a similar problem, but only with my Windows 10 computer. All my Windows 7 computers will print in color. My Windows 10 computers do not give me an option to print in color at all. I've tried removing the printer, drivers, uninstalling all the software, and nothing has worked. Is there a solution I am missing?

@whq6105, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates.

For more information, go to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.

I would suggest you try the Windows built-in drivers. Follow the steps below:

•    Go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.

•    When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.

•    Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.

Refer to this document HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver for help.

Thank you for the response.

Firmware is up to date.

Deleted the driver and installed the Windows driver, and still do NOT have the option to change from Black/Grayscale to Color.

Do you have additional suggestions?

@whq6105

Check the settings-

Open Control Panel, go to Devices and printers.
* Right-click on the specific printer with the issue, and select Properties from the menu.
* Go to the Device Settings tab, scroll down to the Device Type option, click on its drop-down menu, and change from Auto Detect to Color. Then click Apply > OK

If the issue persists, try creating a new user account on your printer and install the drivers.

Keep me posted.

Thank you for the response.  I only have a listing for "Installable Options" and under this heading, I see Automatic Duplexing Unit, and Photo Tray.  There is no option under Device Settings for Device Type or Auto Detect to Color.

Any other suggestions?

Try creating a new user account on your PC and then install the printer.

See if that helps!
