My HP 8710 all in one printer will not properly print envelopes--the font is illegible

Hello.  My 8710 will not properly print a number 10 envelope.  You can have an envelope set up for printing in Word.  You print it as a paper, 8 1/2 x 11, and it prints on the paper fine.  Call it an envelope, and the font is illegible, pulling from the same tray.  Whether you print the envelope  on an envelope or paper, if it thinks it is an envelope, the font cannot be read. If you take that same set up, print it on paper, it looks fine and perfect.

Good morning,

I am aware of how to print an envelope.  I have done it for many years.  I took this 8710 from my wife, giving her my newer HP printer for her business.  So, I cannot print proper envelopes on this 8710.  The font is horrible, like shadowed.  If I have an envelope set up in word, but i tell the printer to print it on paper, no problems.  If I tell the printer it is a number 10 envelope, or if the printer believes it is an envelope, the font is illegible.  The firmware is updated.
