The HP 8710 printer is identified by my PC, and set as the default printer.
The most current versions of printer driver and firmware have been updated and installed successfully
I am running Windows 11 on the desktop (less than one year old)
When printing a document the document is submitted, it shows up in the print queue, but never prints.
I have stopped and restarted the print queue services on my PC, as well as rebooted the PC and cycled the printer on & off
Nothing seems to help. The printer worked fine without any issues for several years, and all of a sudden it no longer prints.,

Hi @Wayne_TR3a,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've covered many of the usual troubleshooting steps. Here are a few additional steps that might resolve this print queue issue.
Clear the Print Queue Manually:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners on your Windows 11 PC.
- Select your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710, then Open queue.
- If documents are stuck, cancel all documents in the queue.
- Next, go to Services (press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter).
- Locate Print Spooler, right-click, and select Stop.
- In File Explorer, go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files in this folder.
- Return to the Services window, and start the Print Spooler again.
Check Printer Status:
- Ensure that the printer is not set to offline or paused. Go to Devices and Printers, right-click your HP 8710, and ensure it is not set to "Use Printer Offline" or "Pause Printing."
Set up a New Printer Port:
- Go to Devices and Printers again, right-click on your printer, and select Printer Properties.
- In the Ports tab, select Add Port, choose Standard TCP/IP Port, and follow the steps to create a new port for your printer’s IP address.
- Check if this new port helps the print jobs go through.
Run the Printer Troubleshooter:
- Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
- Select Printer and let Windows troubleshoot for any detected issues.
Reinstall the Printer:
- Completely remove the printer from your PC, delete any related drivers, then reinstall it.
- In Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, select the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710, and choose Remove device.
- Restart your PC, download the latest drivers from HP’s website, and add the printer back again.
Test with Another User Profile:
- If the printer works fine from another account, it may indicate a corrupted profile. If so, creating a new user profile on your Windows PC may resolve the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
