My HP Deskjet 2131 printer isn't printing. Upon switching it on, both ink cartridge indicators blink, despite the cartridges being fine. I've searched for solutions and attempted a reset, which briefly allowed a color/black page to print. However, the indicators resume blinking afterward. Does anyone have a solution for this issue?

Hi @ancyfernadez,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand both the ink cartridge indicators on your HP Deskjet 2131 printer blink, it typically indicates an issue with the cartridges or the printer's connection to them.

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

  • Check Cartridges: Ensure that both ink cartridges are properly installed in their respective slots and that they are not low on ink. Sometimes, cartridges may not be seated correctly or become loose during handling.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: Turn off the printer and remove both ink cartridges. Clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and inside the cartridge slots with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water. Please make sure they are dry before reinserting them into the printer.
  • Reset Printer: Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer while it is still turned on. Wait for about a minute, and then plug the power cord back in. Press the power button to turn on the printer and check if the blinking indicators persist.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that your printer drivers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause communication issues between the printer and the computer. You can download the latest drivers from the HP website. Software and Drivers for HP DeskJet 2131 All-in-One Printer
  • Reset the Printer to Factory Defaults: You can reset the printer to its factory defaults to clear any error states. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
  • Check for Hardware Issues: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there may be a hardware problem with the printer.

I hope this helps.
