HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Printer

The pick list does not include my MAC OS - SONOMA. This just started a few days ago. It does print HP test pages. Only prints the first line in an email and/or webpage and MS Word, and one column of an excel file at most.

Hi @WCJJR,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY 7640 printer is only printing one line or a blank page, and it's not listed in your Mac OS preferences, there are several troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve the issue.

  • Check Ink Levels: Ensure that the ink cartridges have sufficient ink levels. If the ink levels are low, replace the cartridges with new ones.
  • Print a Diagnostic Page: Use the printer's control panel to print a diagnostic page. This can help identify any specific issues with the printer itself. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to print a diagnostic page.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Make sure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your Mac. Visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers compatible with your operating system.
  • Reset Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in. Turn the printer back on and check if the issue persists.
  • Reset Printing System: Open "System Preferences" on your Mac, go to "Printers & Scanners," right-click (or Control-click) on the printer, and select "Reset Printing System." This will remove all printers from the list. Re-add your printer and try printing again.
  • Check Print Settings: Ensure that the print settings are correct. Open the document you want to print, go to "File" > "Print," and verify the print settings such as paper size, orientation, and quality.
  • Check Paper Tray: Make sure that the paper is loaded correctly in the paper tray, and the paper type and size settings match the loaded paper.
  • Reinstall Printer Software: Uninstall the printer software from your Mac, restart your computer, and then reinstall the latest version of the software from the HP website.
  • Check for Updates: Ensure that your Mac's operating system is up to date. Check for any software updates and install them.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the printing issues with your HP ENVY 7640 printer on your Mac.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you very much. I managed to "guess" a hopeful solution and then implemented it successfully after I contacted HP/before your response. I needed to print something "quick" so that is why I went on my own!

My guess solution was to reset the printer - delete it and "reinstall it" but I had my fingers crossed while doing so!

Again, thank you very much for your response.

I have saved your response for future use.
