Hello HP community,

Recently I noticed that my HP Envy 120 all-in-one is not scanning or copying: it is only printing.

This is what I get when I scan or photocopy any document/picture. HP Envy 120 scanner.PNG

I tried everything to solve the problem, including downloading and running 'HP print and scan doctor'.

I would appreciate if you could help me solve it. I know this model is no longer available. And I cannot even find 'driver/software updates' for this model. But the printer is, otherwise, brilliant. And it is not heavily used.

I look forward to your suggestions.

Many thanks,

Manal

Hi @MNAngus,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing an issue with scanning from your printer.

A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.

C) If the issue still persists,  refer to the steps on this link to further troubleshoot.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day

Hello @Irwin6.

Apologies for the late reply. I didn't have access to the printer in question as I was working in a different location.

Thank you for the detailed reply.

I applied all the steps you listed in your message, but I am afraid this didn't work. Also the 'start button', as well as all other buttons on my printer as 'touch' not actual buttons. So when I unplugged the cord, there is nothing to 'press'.

I clicked on the two links you provided in your reply, but neither of them works: I got the same error message for both: HTTP Status 400 - Bad Request.

What you see in the attached image is what I get when I scan or photocopy, even after applying the steps you listed. Printing works fine though.

I tried searching for software updates, but I couldn't find it.

What is puzzling me is that this problem started all of a sudden a couple of weeks ago. I have an older printer, exactly the same model, 5 years older, and it is still working fine.

I look forward to hearing from you, hopefully before Thursday, when I will again be working away from this printer.

Kind regards,

Manal
