Hi @Pamma2,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing a troubleshoot your HP Envy Pro 6458 printer not responding to your MacBook, follow these steps:

Check Connection:

  • Ensure both your printer and MacBook are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Verify the Wi-Fi connection on your printer (solid blue light indicates a good connection).

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off your printer and MacBook.
  • Unplug your router for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in.
  • Turn on your printer and MacBook.

Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP Envy 6458 printer. You can usually do this through the printer's control panel or HP's website.

Reset Printing System (Mac):

  • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click (or Control-click) on the list of printers and choose "Reset printing system."
  • Confirm the reset and then re-add your printer.

Reinstall Printer Driver:

  • Visit the HP website to download and install the latest printer driver compatible with macOS for your HP Envy Pro 6458.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Ensure no firewall or security software on your MacBook is blocking communication with the printer.

Printer Reset:

  • If none of the above steps work, consider resetting your printer to factory settings. This can often resolve persistent connectivity issues.
