Hi @Will0553,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e is stuck in a "Validating Please Wait" loop, this issue can be caused by firmware corruption, a failed update, or connectivity problems. Here are steps you can follow to troubleshoot.

Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer: Disconnect the power cord while the printer is on.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer. See if the issue resolves.

Reset the Printer to Factory Settings

If the power cycle doesn’t resolve the issue, try performing a factory reset:

  • From the control panel, press the Home button.
  • Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
  • The printer will reboot. Check if this clears the validation loop.

Update Firmware via USB

If your printer is still stuck, you may need to update the firmware manually:

  • Download the latest firmware for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e from HP’s official support website.
  • Transfer the firmware to a USB drive.
  • Connect the USB drive to the printer, and it may auto-detect the firmware update and install it.

Check for Hardware Issues

If the issue persists, it could be a hardware fault. Inspect cables, remove and reseat cartridges, and ensure there's no paper jam or obstruction.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
