HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP277 dw prints from other devices but not from MacBook Pro running Mac OS Sequoia 15.2 as it shows "Expired Certificate" and is paused. Even with a document shown as "waiting" other devices can print on LaserJet. I have tried removing and re-adding the printer but the failure to print from my MacBook remains

Hi @MikeF14 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the "Expired Certificate" issue on your MacBook when using your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277 dw is likely due to macOS verifying the printer's security certificate during connection. Here's a step-by-step guide to resolving the problem:

Steps to Resolve the "Expired Certificate" Issue

1. Remove and Re-add the Printer (Again)

  1. Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Select the printer from the list and click the Remove Printer (-) button.
  3. Restart your MacBook.
  4. Re-add the printer:
    • Click Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax.
    • Select the printer in the list (or add it by its IP address if it doesn’t appear).
    • For the Use field, ensure you select AirPrint or Secure AirPrint, depending on availability.

2. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  1. Ensure your printer firmware is up-to-date:
    • Visit the HP Support website.
    • Search for your printer model (Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277 dw) and download the latest firmware if available.
  2. Follow HP's instructions to update the firmware.

3. Reset the Printing System

  1. Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Right-click (or hold the Control key and click) anywhere in the printer list and select Reset Printing System.
  3. Confirm the reset. This will remove all printers and reset related settings.
  4. Re-add your printer as described in Step 1.

4. Disable Certificate Validation (Temporary Solution)

If the expired certificate is unavoidable, you can bypass macOS's validation:

  1. Open Safari and navigate to your printer’s IP address to access the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
  2. Log in as an administrator.
  3. Navigate to Settings > Security > Certificates.
  4. Generate a new self-signed certificate or disable HTTPS (though this reduces security).
    • Note: Re-enable HTTPS after testing, and generate a valid certificate if possible.

5. Test a Manual Connection

  1. Add the printer using its IP address:
    • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners > Add Printer.
    • Select IP.
    • Enter the printer’s IP address (find it on the printer’s network settings menu or via the EWS).
    • Use the Secure AirPrint or AirPrint protocol.

6. Check macOS Updates

Ensure your MacBook is fully updated:

  1. Go to System Settings > Software Update.
  2. Install any pending updates for macOS 15.2.

7. Install HP Drivers (Optional)

  1. Download and install the latest drivers for your printer from HP’s website:
    • Ensure you select macOS as the operating system.

8. Test Printing

  1. Try printing a test document to verify the issue is resolved.
  2. If the problem persists, restart both your printer and MacBook, and re-test.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Tried your suggestion but problem remains. When I try to install new software my Mac doesn’t trust the source. I’ll just print to another printer or send the file to a computer that can print on the laserjet
