Hi @Derekffam3,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing trouble printing from your HP OfficeJet Pro 6960 printer with your HP Windows 11 laptop. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.
- Check printer connectivity: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your laptop. Verify the USB cable or network connection between the printer and the laptop.
- Restart devices: Sometimes, restarting both the printer and the laptop can help resolve temporary communication issues. Turn off both devices, wait for a few seconds, and then turn them back on.
- Update printer drivers: Outdated or incompatible printer drivers can cause printing problems. Visit the official HP website and search for the latest printer drivers specifically designed for Windows 11. Download and install the updated drivers on your laptop.
- Check print queue: There may be a print queue issue. Open the Control Panel on your Windows 11 laptop, go to "Devices and Printers," locate your OfficeJet Pro 6960 printer, and right-click on it. From the context menu, select "See what's printing" or "Print queue." If there are any pending print jobs, try removing them and then attempt to print again.
- Run the Printer Troubleshooter: Windows 11 has a built-in troubleshooter that can help diagnose and resolve printer-related issues. Open the Windows Settings by pressing Windows key + I, then go to "System" > "Troubleshoot" > "Additional troubleshooters." Look for the "Printer" troubleshooter, run it, and follow the instructions provided.
- Reinstall the printer: If the above steps don't resolve the issue, try removing the printer from your laptop and then reinstalling it. To do this, open the Control Panel, go to "Devices and Printers," find your OfficeJet Pro 6960 printer, right-click on it, and select "Remove device." Afterward, reconnect the printer and let Windows automatically reinstall the necessary drivers.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Dear Aiden,
Many thanks for your answer which was really helpful. What I failed to say was my printer is a wireless one. I have two other computers on my home network, none of which are Windows 11, and they both print fine. I've done most of what you suggested but sadly to no avail. I tried to update the drivers again using to HP smart App but I get the message 'Unable to instal printer The handle is invalid. ' Any suggestions what to try next?
Many thanks
Derek
