Hi @KMendo,
Thanks for stopping by the HP community. A very good day to you. 🙂 I reviewed the post regarding issues connecting the printer to a wireless or wired network. I will be delighted to assist you here. 🙂
Superb description and stupendous diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
For better clarity and to assist you better I would require information regarding this:
- Did this happen after a power surge or outage?
- Did you try to connect the printer to a different device like a smart phone, IPad or another computer?
For a start please try these steps:
For a start please try these steps:
Please perform all the steps from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-pro-6830-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5390307/model... for HP Printers - Printer Not Found During Network Driver Setup (Windows) Ensure to perform steps 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 without fail.
After that please try to uninstall the printer and reinstall it by following these steps:
- Please uninstall the printer drivers completely and reinstall it by following these steps:
- Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)
- Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)
- Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.
- Click on print server properties.
- You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there if any.
- Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
- Restart the PC.
- Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,
- Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
- It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files).
- If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.
- Ignore the Regedit option if it cannot be done.
- Restart the PC again.
Then download the latest full feature driver from https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-pro-6830-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5... and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.
Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.
Then check again. Then assign a manual IP address again by following step 3 from the same link.
This should do the trick for you.
- For further assistance follow the steps from the guided troubleshooter link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-pro-6830-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5390307/model... and check again if it gets resolved.
- Also, you could connect the printer via a USB cable install the software and convert it to a wireless connection from this link: http://www8.hp.com/in/en/campaigns/wireless-printing-center/reconfiguring-system-help2.html
Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, Going by your technical expertise and competence I am sure you will be able to perform these steps without breaking a sweat. 🙂
Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.

Okay, Im in the middle of being patient with this process. Here is what has happened so far. It gives me an error when I try to connect wireless and when I try to install through USB. I am currently trying to install via ethernet cable. Plus.. the printer itself is registering the ethernet cable, which it was not previously. I can deal with it set up through ethernet, however, its now saying this. what else can I do?

Hi @KMendo,
I have reviewed the post completely. You've done great by displaying tremendous patience and a great attitude to try and resolve the issue. Kudos to you for a job well done. 🙂 You've made yourself very clear. The steps that I gave you for troubleshooting are the required steps to correct the issue.
- Did you try those steps from the links sent in my previous post?
- Does any other device like a smart phone, tablet or IPad connect to the printer correctly?
For now please perform these steps and please ensure that all the steps are correctly followed.
- If any other device such as a smart phone or tablet connects to the device on a wireless network, then the problem is not with the printer but the operating system of the computer.
- If that is the case, please backup all your important files. Then reinstall Windows 10 and try to connect the printer to a wireless or wired network. It will do the trick for you and fix your issue.
If other devices don't connect to the printer on a wireless network then follow these steps: - Turn off the printer and disconnect it.
- Perform a hard reset on the printer by following step 1 from this link: http://hp.care/2ftxNTJ for a hard reset.
- Then power on the printer and restore network defaults on the printer by following the steps from this user guide link: http://hp.care/2fsJppO refer to page# 124 on how to do it.
- Later decide first which route you want to take. Do you require a wireless or wired connection.
- If it is a wireless connection please perform all the required steps from this link: http://hp.care/2ftyIU3 for HP Officejet 6810, 6820, 6830 Printers - Wireless Printer Setup
- If it is a wired connection that you want please follow all the prescribed steps from this link: http://hp.care/2fu0y2F for HP Printers - Wired Network Printer Setup (Windows)
- If the printer is not found on the network itself for both wired and wireless connection please perform all the relevant steps from this link: http://hp.care/2hHhK5f for HP Printers - Printer Not Found During Network Driver Setup (Windows)
This will definitely work if the printer has no hardware issues. Please ensure to perform all the steps according to the connection that you decide.
Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.
Take care and have a blessed week ahead. 🙂
Cheers!
