I cleared a paper jam in my HPOfficeJet Pro 8025 All in One Product #: 1KR57A. It's not printing or copying and displays the Event Code: 71.02.4B, indicating a paper feed issue. There doesn't appear to be any jammed paper and the rollers look okay. I have turned or and restarted the printer multiple times. Any suggestions are appreciated? Thank you!

Hi @Print-alot

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025 is still having issues after the paper jam was cleared, and the Event Code 71.02.4B indicates a paper feed issue. Here are a few steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check for Hidden Paper Jams

  • Even though you've cleared the jammed paper, it's worth rechecking the printer thoroughly. Sometimes small pieces of paper can get stuck in hard-to-see places.
  • Check:
    • The paper feed path, including the tray area, rollers, and inside the printer.
    • The area near the print head and paper rollers, as paper can sometimes get stuck in these areas.

Tip: Use a flashlight to inspect hard-to-see spots.

2. Clean the Paper Feed Rollers

  • The rollers are responsible for feeding paper into the printer, and if they’re dirty or worn, they can cause feed issues.
  • How to clean the rollers:
    • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
    • Open the paper tray and locate the rollers.
    • Use a lint-free cloth or a damp sponge with warm water to gently clean the rollers. You can also use a small amount of isopropyl alcohol (70%) to clean them.
    • Rotate the rollers manually to ensure thorough cleaning.
    • Once done, let everything dry before plugging the printer back in.

3. Check the Paper Quality and Alignment

  • Make sure you're using the right type of paper (check the printer's manual for paper specifications).
  • Paper issues: Paper that’s too thick, curled, or has too many sheets in the tray can sometimes cause feed problems.
  • Try using a fresh stack of paper, ensuring it’s not damaged, and that it's properly aligned in the paper tray.

4. Reset the Printer

  • A reset can sometimes clear lingering errors and issues. Perform a hard reset:
    • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    • Wait for about 60 seconds.
    • Plug the printer back in, turn it on, and check if the error persists.

5. Update the Printer Firmware

  • Make sure your printer is running the latest firmware, as updates may fix bugs related to paper feed issues.
  • Check for updates through the HP Smart app or visit the HP website to download and install the latest firmware.

6. Check Printer Settings

  • Sometimes incorrect settings, like paper size, tray settings, or printing preferences, can cause paper feed issues. Make sure the settings match the actual paper size and type you're using.

I hope this helps.

Hi Sneha-01, Many thanks for your response and help. I tried all of your tips sadly to no avail. I contacted HP Technical support who said the problem is related to the hardware and the internal system failure is due to a fluctuation in power, which I don't quite understand. The representative advised against using a surge protector for all HP printers. The printer is plugged into a surge protector as I have done with other printers in the past. The rep recommended a new printer which I am not excited about replacing as this unit is only 4 years old and contrary to my username has not had a history of high volume printing. Could it be that clearing paper jams without turning off the printer contributed to this issue? It was working fine prior to this (although I did have an issue with printing errors in the past in which I needed to unplug/turn off (reboot) the computer. My last HP printer lasted over 12 years, so wasn't planning on replacing in the near future. And not happy about tossing an entire printer when it is likely a small part that needs replaced. Seems like an unnecessary generation of waste. ; - (

I cleaned the rollers, etc., but was not able to us the "Clean the printhead" option under Print Maintenance in the settings as I continued to receive the 71.02.4B Event code.

Hi @Print-alot,

Thank you for the response.

If you are unable to use the clean print head option under print maintenance, follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Restart the Printer

Sometimes a simple restart can resolve the issue:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.

Accessing Clean Print Heads Option

Follow these steps to access and use the clean print heads option:

  • On the printer control panel, go to Settings.
  • Select Printer Maintenance.
  • Choose Clean Printhead.

If you are still unable to access the clean print head option:

Perform a Printer Reset

  • On the printer control panel, go to Setup.
  • Select Printer Maintenance.
  • Choose Restore Defaults.

Clean Printheads Manually

If all other methods fail, you can manually clean the printheads:

  • Remove the cartridges and printheads from the printer.
  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to gently clean the printhead contacts.
  • Reinsert the printheads and cartridges, ensuring they are securely placed.
