HP OfficeJet Pro 7740
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 has been accepting off-brand ink cartridges as long as I've owned it (18 months).  As long as they say 952XL it has taken them, I have primarily used Kingjet.  Now all of a sudden it gives an error message: "Cartridge Problem - remove and reinstall the indicated cartridge" (all of them).  I do this and nothing makes this message go away.  Why the change all of a sudden?  How can I fix this?  I run a small business and really can't afford the HP ink - it's so expensive!  Not to mention, I have the Kingjet ink and need to print today, I don't know how to get HP ink on the fly with all of our stores closed.  THANK YOU for any advice anyone can offer!

@Shannon_WA, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Follow the steps below-

Try the steps from the document  HP Printer Does not Print and Error Indicates Faulty Ink Cartridge

Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

The third-party ink cartridges will work. But there are many cartridges in the market which are refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why it is not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.

I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!
