I had this printer for a few years. Default setting was print on both sides flip on the long edge.

Two weeks ago, it started flipping on the short edge. I checked these setting but it showed long edge. I changed setting to short edge and did a print. Then I changed it to long edge and did a print. Both were the same - flipped on short edge. I changed settings in both location - print dialog box and printer properties.

I then deleted the printer and reinstalled the problem has not been solved.

I am wasting a lot of paper.

Is there a solution?

 

And to answer the usual questions I always get asked:

1) Yes, the printer plugged in

2) Yes, the printer is switched on 

3) Yes, I have the tray loaded with paper

4) Yes, I have a duplexer

5) No there was no update of printer software immediately before this problem occured.

  • Which application are you trying to print from?
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?

 

Perform a clean reinstallation of pre-installed HP drivers

  1.  In Windows, search for and open Programs and features 
  2.  Select your HP Printer 
  3.  Select Uninstall 
  4.  In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers 
  5.  In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’ 
  6.  Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo. 
  7.  Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”) 
  8.  Click on the “Drivers” tab 
  9.  Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom 
  10.  Select Ok 
  11.  Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows 
  12.  Close Devices and Printers, restart the computer.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Try printing.

The print settings are set on the application you are using to print. 

By printing different types of applications, we can conclude if this is a printer-specific issue or an app-specific issue.
