HP OfficeJet Pro 8740 All-in-One Printer

WIFI Connection. Both printer and Dell laptop are connected to the same network. But, the printer is off-line after working for 2 years or more. Downloaded new driver for HP OfficeJet Pro 8740 Printer. I enter the IP address for the printer but the printer cannot be located. The printer is located adjacent to my laptop, with the printer showing a strong signal with the WIFI Symbol showing a dark blue color.

There's no firewall.

What action is required?

@TARHEELFAN111, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

First restart both the printer and your laptop. Check that the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your laptop by printing a network configuration page. If it's not connected, reconnect it to your Wi-Fi network through the printer's control panel.

Next, reinstall the correct driver for the printer, making sure it matches your printer model and operating system.

Then, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers and set your printer as the default if it’s not already. Ensure that printer has the latest firmware updates.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows only):

Finally, try printing a test page to confirm the connection is working.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue
