My HP Smart Tank 515 won’t print blue even after refilling the ink. Already tried aligning the printhead, cleaning smears from the app but it still won’t print Blue

Hi @Pia1113,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Smart Tank 515 won’t print blue even after refilling the ink and performing maintenance tasks, there are a few additional steps you can take.

  • Check Ink Levels: Ensure that the blue ink tank is properly filled and that there's no air bubble or blockage. Sometimes, even after refilling, the ink might not flow correctly if there are air bubbles or if the ink is not seated properly.
  • Inspect the Ink Cartridges: Remove and check the blue ink cartridge for any blockages or dried ink that might be affecting its performance. Clean the contacts and nozzles of the cartridge with a lint-free cloth.
  • Run a Printhead Cleaning: Go to the printer’s maintenance menu and perform a deep clean or printhead cleaning. This can help clear any clogs or dried ink that might be obstructing the blue ink flow.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Sometimes, updating the printer’s firmware can resolve issues with ink not printing correctly. Visit HP’s website to check for any available updates for your printer model.
  • Perform a Printhead Alignment: Although you mentioned you've tried aligning the printhead, it might be worth repeating the process. Ensure you follow the printer’s instructions carefully.
  • Perform a Printer Reset: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source for a few minutes, and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset any temporary issues.
  • Check for Software Issues: Make sure the printer drivers and HP Smart app are up-to-date. Sometimes, outdated software can cause printing issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
