My HP Smart printer says it's out of paper when it isn't

My printer is saying it is out of paper.  I have tried everything, unplugging, resetting and printing status pages which all come back as fine and paper spools with no problems when doing so.  It doesn't matter what I am trying to print from, phone or computer, message is the same.  I subscribe to smart ink and have had no such problems before.  Any suggestions?

(Re)check is whether the printer is aware of the paper size and type you are trying to use.

Reminder

 HP Smart Mobile requires the paper size / type be adjusted before the content is open for printing.

Paper Size and Type - Tray and Paper - can be checked using the Embedded Web Server (EWS).

Tray and Paper is also available from within HP Smart.

"Out of paper" is not quite the same as a paper size / type error.

That said, there might be a "matched" set conflict between the paper size you and selecting and the paper type.

At least some of what you check / adjust -- and where you check / change the setup - depends on the software / application you are using to open, view, configure, and submit the job to the printer.  What?  Print job settings impact the results.
