Hi @chethancb,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand your printer is stuck in verifying mode. Here's a step-by-step plan to try resolving this issue.

Perform a Forced Reset

  1. Unplug the Printer
Disconnect the printer's power cord from both the printer and the power outlet.
  2. Wait for 60 Seconds
Press and hold the power button (even if unresponsive) for 30 seconds to discharge any residual charge.
  3. Reconnect the Power
Plug the power cord back directly into a wall outlet (not through a power strip or surge protector).
    • Note: Avoid using the USB cable or other connections at this point.
  4. Power On the Printer
Check if the printer boots past the "verifying" screen.

Check for Firmware Recovery Mode

Some HP printers have a firmware recovery mode:

  1. Turn Off the Printer (if it responds; otherwise skip).
  2. Hold Down Certain Buttons While Powering On:
    • Typically, Power + Cancel or Power + Back Button for 15-30 seconds.
    • Check the user manual for the exact button combination (or let me know, and I can help find it).
  3. If successful, the printer will load a basic recovery screen.
    • Reconnect via USB or WiFi and attempt a firmware update via HP Smart or the HP Support website.

Update Firmware via USB Drive

If the firmware recovery screen appears:

  1. Download the latest firmware for your printer from the HP Support website.
  2. Use a computer to transfer the firmware file to a USB flash drive.
  3. Plug the USB drive into the printer and follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware.

Hard Reset to Factory Defaults

  1. Disconnect the printer and hold down both WiFi and Power buttons while reconnecting the power cord.
  2. Keep holding the buttons until the printer powers on and displays a reset screen.
  3. Follow the reset instructions and reconnect the printer.

I hope this helps.
