Hi @danielricher, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "Validating" message on your HP ENVY 6055e printer usually appears during firmware updates, initialization, or network authentication. If it's stuck for 30 minutes, something is likely preventing it from completing the process.

Possible Causes & Fixes

1. Firmware Update Stuck

  • If the printer is trying to install a firmware update, it may be stuck due to a network issue or a failed update.
  • Fix:
    • Power off the printer and unplug it for 2–3 minutes.
    • Restart your Wi-Fi router to ensure a stable connection.
    • Turn the printer back on and check if the issue persists.

2. Network Authentication Issue

  • If the printer is trying to validate a Wi-Fi connection or HP+ enrollment, it might be stuck due to an unstable connection.
  • Fix:
    • Restart your Wi-Fi router.
    • Move the printer closer to the router.
    • If using HP Smart App, try setting up the printer again.

3. Corrupt Setup Process

  • Sometimes, the printer gets stuck in a validation loop due to a failed initial setup.
  • Fix:
    • Factory Reset the Printer:
      • Press & hold the Wi-Fi button and the Cancel button together for 10 seconds.
      • The printer should restart and reset to factory settings.
    • Re-attempt the setup via HP Smart App.

4. HP Smart App Issue

  • If the printer is validating through the HP Smart App, the app itself may be causing the delay.
  • Fix:
    • Close and reopen HP Smart.
    • Uninstall and reinstall the HP Smart App.
    • Try setting up on a different device (PC, mobile, etc.).

5. Firmware Recovery

  • If the issue persists, a firmware rollback may be needed.
  • Fix:
    • Try HP Print and Scan Doctor (for Windows) to diagnose.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
