Hi @zania

Welcome to the HP support community.

If your HP OfficeJet 5230 has stopped printing from your desktop and the document is stuck in the print queue with an error, here are a few quick troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

1. Cancel the Stuck Print Job

  • Open the Print Queue (click the printer icon in the taskbar or go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers).
  • Right-click the stuck print job and choose Cancel.
  • If the job won't cancel, restart your computer and try again.

2. Restart the Printer

  • Power off your printer, wait for 10-15 seconds, and then power it back on.
  • This can clear temporary errors and reset the printer.

3. Clear the Print Spooler

If the issue persists, try clearing the print spooler:

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  • Find and right-click Print Spooler, then click Stop.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete any files in this folder.
  • Go back to the Print Spooler service and click Start.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
