HI @petroum,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP printer is able to print PDF documents from Adobe Reader but not Word documents from Microsoft Word on your MacBook, there could be a few reasons for this discrepancy. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve this issue:
1. Check Printer Settings in Word
- Printer Selection: Ensure that the correct printer is selected in Microsoft Word.
- Go to File > Print and check that your HP printer is selected in the printer drop-down menu.
2. Update Microsoft Word
- Update Software: Ensure that Microsoft Word is up to date. Sometimes, updates can fix bugs that might be causing printing issues.
- Open Microsoft Word and go to Help > Check for Updates.
3. Check Document Formatting
- Simplify Document: Sometimes complex formatting can cause issues. Try printing a simple text document to see if the problem persists.
- Create a new Word document with just a few lines of text and attempt to print it.
4. Print from Another Application
- Test Printing: Try printing the Word document from another application (like Preview or Pages) to see if the issue is specific to Microsoft Word.
- Open the Word document, go to File > Export > PDF, and then open the PDF in Preview and try printing it.
5. Reset Printing System
- Reset Printing System: This can help resolve any underlying issues with the printer setup on your MacBook.
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click (or Control-click) on the printer list and select Reset printing system.
- Add your printer again after the reset.
6. Check Printer Driver
- Update Driver: Ensure that your printer driver is up to date.
- Go to the HP support website and download the latest driver for your specific printer model.
7. Print as Image
- Print as Image: Sometimes printing as an image can bypass certain issues.
- Open the print dialog in Word, click on Print, then click on the Advanced button (if available), and check the option to Print as Image.
8. Check for Software Conflicts
- Restart and Test: Restart your MacBook and try printing the Word document again. This can sometimes resolve temporary software conflicts.
9. Printer Firmware Update
- Update Firmware: Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date.
- Check the printer’s manual or the HP support website for instructions on how to update the firmware.
10. Test with Different Word Document
- New Document: Create a new Word document from scratch and try printing it. There might be something specific in the original document causing the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
