My Officejet model 4655 printer suddenly went blank. I cannot turn the machine off from the on/off button. I have unplugged and replugged the printer in and the screnn comes up blank. Before this happened, overnight it randomly printed tjhe configuration page followed by a list of availble networks in my area. Then it went dead.

Hi @Reviczky ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet 4655 printer is suddenly offline and unresponsive, there are several troubleshooting steps you can take to try and resolve the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide:

1. Check Power Connection:

  • Ensure that the power cable is securely connected to both the printer and a working power outlet.

2. Restart the Printer:

  • Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back in.
  • Try turning on the printer.

3. Reset the Printing System:

  • On your Mac, go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners."
  • Right-click (or Control-click) on the list of printers on the left side and choose "Reset printing system."
  • Confirm the action.

4. Update Printer Drivers:

  • Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed. Visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.

5. Check for Hardware Issues:

  • Inspect the power cable and ensure it's not damaged.
  • Check for any visible damage on the printer itself.

6. Factory Reset the Printer:

  • Please note that a factory reset will remove all custom settings.
  • Look for instructions on how to perform a factory reset in your printer's manual or on the HP website.

7. Update macOS:

  • Make sure your macOS is up to date. Sometimes, compatibility issues can be resolved with software updates.

8. Check for Interference:

  • Ensure there are no physical obstacles or interference that could be affecting the wireless signal if your printer is connected wirelessly.

9. Inspect Printer Screen:

  • If the printer has a screen, and it's not turning on, it could indicate a hardware issue. Consider reaching out to HP support or a local technician for assistance.

10. Check for Error Lights:

  • If there are any error lights on the printer, consult the printer manual or HP's website for information on what those lights indicate.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
