My printer cannot print PDFs at all; or it prints the first page and then stops; the documents and jpgs print well. My printer is not printing wirelessly; I have to connect it directly to my computer

Hi @Lesliegabaldon

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining the issue so clearly—it’s genuinely frustrating when PDFs stall while everything else prints smoothly.

Let’s walk through a few steps to help your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw print PDFs reliably on macOS 15.0 Sequoia.

Step-by-Step Fix for PDF Printing Issues

1. Update HP Printer Drivers for macOS 15

macOS Sequoia is new, and older drivers may not fully support PDF rendering:

2. Use Preview Instead of Adobe Reader

Some versions of Adobe Reader may conflict with macOS printing:

  • Open the PDF in Preview (macOS default app).
  • Go to File > Print, and try printing from there.

3. Enable Print as Image

This bypasses complex PDF rendering:

  • In the print dialog, click Show Details.
  • If available, check Print as Image under advanced options.

4. Reset the Printing System

This clears any corrupted queues or settings:

  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list → choose Reset printing system.
  • Re-add your HP printer and try printing again.

5. Check Wireless Setup

Since you're only able to print via USB:

Let me know how your printer responds after trying these steps—I’ll guide you further if needed.
