hp OfficeJet 4650
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey I have a Windows 10 Home Edition desktop PC Version 1709

I just recently replaced my printer with an HP OfficeJet 4650. The installation seemed relatively easy and since the first thing I printed was in greyscale I didn't notice any problems. However I am now attempting to print a colored picture and it's giving me error messages saying color printing conflicts with other printer settings, and when I try to open up the printer settings through devices and hardware it gives me this weird window that I've never seen before and doesn't even mention color versus greyscale as an option to toggle between.(Link to small screenshot album documenting these issues: https://imgur.com/a/Do0Oa5f)

I have restarted my desktop and made sure both PC and printer drivers were up to date, along with the printer's firmware.

My research on Microsoft's site hasn't come up with anything fruitful.

Hi IRuffian,

By looking into image that you provided, have you installed the full driver from www.123.hp.com? if not do remove the existing printer from control panel >> hardware & sound [view devices & printers] >> right click on the printer icon and remove device.

Reinstall full driver from www.123.hp.com

1. key in printer model & download the EXE file.

2. follow step-by-step instruction to setup and connect printer to WiFi as required.

From there, you should have options to select PRINT MODE, PAPER SIZE, PAPER SETTING & Grey/Color scale

HP support document for your reference @  https://support.hp.com/sg-en/document/c05078948

In the software program you are trying to print from, click File, and then click Print. The Print dialog box opens.

  1. Select your product, and then click Properties. The printer Properties dialog box opens.

  2. Click the Paper/Quality tab.

  3. From the Media drop-down list, select the paper type that matches the paper you loaded in the product.

  4. From the Paper Size drop-down list, select the option that matches your paper size. For example, if you have legal paper loaded in your product, select Legal 8.5x14in.

  5. Click the Advanced tab. The Advanced Options dialog box opens.

  6. Under Document Options, make sure that Print in Grayscale is set to Off, unless you are printing in Grayscale intentionally.

  7. Click OK, and then click OK again to apply the settings.

  8. Click OK from the Print dialog box to start the print job.

Hope this help and do let us know.

I did add the printer through finding it on the network rather than downloading a driver from the site first. I'll try uninstalling it soon, thanks for the advice. For now though I found a lazy workaround by using the mobile printing app to print from my phone from my google drive xD and that's working at least.
