Hi,

 

my printer won't print in colour anymore. 

The ink cartridges are both new, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the device, downloading the latest software from 123.hp.com and reset the device, aligned the cartridges, cleaned the cartridges but nothing seems to work.

It doesn't print in colour directly from the printer either.

Colour from photocopies come out in greyscale, and colour printed from the computer don't print at all.

 

What can I do?

Do you have an alternate color ink cartridge to try with?

 

This seems like an issue with the ink cartridge or the printhead of the printer. Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

 

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

 

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest firmware from your computer.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

 

Clean the ink cartridges, refer to step 5 from this document

Make sure the protective plastic tape is removed from the ink cartridge before inserting in the printer.

Now, try printing a Print Quality Diagnostic page, refer to this document to know how.
