Out of the blue, my hp 2355 printer window shows "Out of Paper" when I try to print.  All other functions seem to be working, and " print " worked well too.  The problem occurs on 3 other computers. and the warning light blinks.  Pressing "OK" just recycles the problem after the printer makes "set-up" noises.

Hi @JimStamm,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP 2355 printer is experiencing an issue with detecting paper, despite paper being loaded correctly. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

Check Paper:

  • First, make sure that the paper is loaded correctly in the printer's paper tray. Ensure that the paper is not bent, curled, or damaged in any way. Also, verify that the paper size and type settings in the printer match the paper loaded in the tray.

Paper Tray Guides and Rollers Inspection:

  • Check the paper tray guides to ensure they are properly aligned with the edges of the paper.
  • Clean the paper rollers inside the printer. Dust and debris on the rollers can sometimes cause paper feed issues. You can use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water to clean the rollers. Be sure to unplug the printer from the power source before cleaning to avoid any electrical hazards.

Printer Reset:

  • Try resetting the printer by turning it off, unplugging it from the power source, and waiting for a few minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on again. This can sometimes resolve temporary glitches or errors.

Firmware Update:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model on the HP website. Updating the printer's firmware can sometimes resolve software-related issues.

Paper Sensor Check:

  • The printer may have a paper sensor that detects whether paper is loaded in the tray. This sensor could be malfunctioning. Refer to the printer's manual for guidance on how to inspect or troubleshoot the paper sensor.

Driver Update:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computers. Outdated or corrupt printer drivers can sometimes cause communication issues between the computer and the printer, leading to errors like the one you're experiencing.

Hardware Inspection:

  • If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there may be a hardware problem with the printer.

By following these troubleshooting steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the "Out of Paper" error on your HP 2355 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
