I replaced my ink cartridge because I ran out of ink. Since I put my new ink in the printer my color ink alert keeps blinking. I’ve reset the printer and have tried multiple new ink cartridges and it keeps blinking.

HI @JN_97,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The blinking ink alert light on your printer typically indicates an issue with the ink cartridge or its installation. Here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
Steps to Troubleshoot the Blinking Ink Alert Light
Check Cartridge Compatibility:
- Ensure that the replacement ink cartridges are compatible with your printer model. Using non-compatible cartridges can cause errors.
Proper Cartridge Installation:
- Remove the ink cartridges and reinsert them. Make sure they are securely installed and that the protective tape or film has been removed from the cartridge contacts.
Clean Cartridge Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Remove the ink cartridges and gently clean the copper contacts on the cartridges and the corresponding contacts inside the printer using a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol. Allow them to dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the printer's sensors and clear the error.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Check the printer HP website for any available firmware updates for your printer model. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues with newer ink cartridges.
Check for Software Updates:
- Make sure you have the latest printer driver and software installed on your computer. Visit the printer manufacturer's website to download and install the latest versions.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Hard Reset Procedure:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds to drain any residual power.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Try a Different Cartridge:
- If possible, try using a different cartridge from another pack or a different batch. Sometimes, a defective cartridge can cause the alert to blink.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
