Can someone help me! I just added ink to the printer, it printed one page very faintly and now every light and icon is flashing

Try these simple troubleshooting steps:

 

Power Cycle the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug it from the power source.
  3. Wait 60 seconds.
  4. Plug it back in and turn it on.

 

Check Ink Tank Levels & Proper Filling

  • Ensure you filled the correct ink tanks with the correct colors.
  • Make sure the ink tanks are not overfilled.
  • Close the ink tank caps properly to prevent air bubbles in the ink flow.

 

Run a Printhead Cleaning

If the first print was faint, the printheads may be clogged:

  1. Press and hold the Resume (⚠️) button for 3-5 seconds.
  2. The printer should start a printhead cleaning cycle.
  3. Try printing a test page.

 

Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  2. Open the rear access door and check for jammed paper.
  3. Also, check the printhead area for any debris or ink spills.
  4. Close all doors securely, plug the printer back in, and turn it on.

 

Reset the Printer

If lights are still flashing, try a reset:

  1. Turn the printer on.
  2. Press and hold Power and Cancel (X) button for 10-15 seconds.
  3. The printer should restart.

 

Update Firmware

If the issue continues, update the printer firmware:

  1. Go to HP’s support website.
  2. Enter your printer model (HP Smart Tank Plus 551).
  3. Download and install any available firmware updates.
