As far as I am aware there have been no changes to my printer. It just suddenly started printing in tiny print on only a quarter of the page

The "tiny corner" printing might be the result of the "Page Setup" > Scale being set to other than 100%. Likely.
"Fit to page" won't cause this unless your Paper Size is wrongly set and the printer somehow misses the descrepancy, then prints on the standard size paper (unlikely - printers usually complain when the paper in the printer and the paper for the job do not match).
This might be a result of the "sheets per page" setting having been changed (either deliberately or by accident). The "multiple" sheets settings allows you to print a mulit-page document on one sheet of paper. If you leave the setting in place and later print a single page document, that single page will be reduced by the amount selected in the "multipage document".
For example, if the "multi-page" sheets were set at 2, the size is "half". If the "multi-page" sheets is set to 4, the size is 1/4 of the original "full page" size.
Example - PDF Reader DC print job - Multiple pages (2) on a single sheet of paper.

Where you look for "sheets per page" or Scale settings depends on the type of content (document or image) and the software you have been using to submit jobs to the printer.
