Hi @SUNSOOHYO,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Envy 5020 printer is only printing in blue, there are several troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you diagnose and fix the problem.

Check Ink Levels: First, ensure that the ink cartridges have sufficient ink. You can check the ink levels through the printer software on your computer or directly on the printer's display panel.

Replace or Reinstall Cartridges: If the ink levels are low or empty, replace the affected ink cartridges with new, genuine HP ink cartridges. Make sure they are correctly installed and securely seated in their respective slots.

Clean the Printhead

  • a. On your printer's control panel, go to "Settings" or "Tools."
  • b. Look for the "Clean Printhead" or "Clean Cartridges" option and run the cleaning process.
  • c. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the cleaning cycle.

Alignment: After cleaning the printhead, you should align the ink cartridges for optimal print quality. This can typically be done through the printer's settings menu.

Print a Test Page: Print a test page to see if the issue is resolved. If not, proceed to the next steps.

Check Printer Settings

  • a. On your computer, go to the "Devices and Printers" or "Printers & Scanners" settings.
  • b. Right-click on your HP Envy 5020 printer and select "Printing Preferences" or "Properties."
  • c. Ensure that the print settings are configured correctly. Check for any settings that might be causing the printer to use only the blue ink.

Driver and Software Update: Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers and software installed. Visit the HP website to download and install the most up-to-date drivers for your printer model.

Nozzle Check: Many printers have a nozzle check option that can help identify and clear clogged nozzles. Check your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a nozzle check.

Manually Clean Printhead.

  • a. Turn off the printer.
  • b. Open the printer cover to access the cartridges.
  • c. Gently remove the ink cartridges.
  • d. Dampen a lint-free cloth or coffee filter with distilled water.
  • e. Gently wipe the printhead to remove any dried ink or debris.
  • f. Let it dry completely.
  • g. Reinstall the ink cartridges and close the cover.
  • h. Turn the printer back on and perform another cleaning cycle.

Always use genuine HP ink cartridges and follow the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning and maintenance to ensure the best performance and longevity of your printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
