Hi @Keely_09-10,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028 printer is only printing in black and white even after replacing the cartridges and performing a hard reset, there could be several possible reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem.
- Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the color ink cartridges are properly installed in the printer. Sometimes, cartridges may not be seated correctly, causing the printer to default to black-and-white printing.
- Printer Settings: Check the printer settings on your computer or the printer's control panel to make sure that the color printing option is enabled. Sometimes, printers can be set to grayscale or black-and-white mode by default.
- Printer Driver: Update or reinstall the printer driver on your computer. Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause printing issues, including printing in black and white only.
- Printer Software: Ensure that the printer software is up to date. HP frequently releases software updates that may address printing issues.
- Printer Preferences: Check the printer preferences or properties on your computer to ensure that color printing is selected as the default option.
- Printer Firmware: Update the printer firmware to the latest version. Firmware updates can sometimes resolve compatibility issues and improve printer functionality.
- Print Test Page: Print a test page from the printer's control panel to see if color printing is working. This can help determine if the issue is with the printer itself or with the connection to your computer.
- Check Ink Levels: Verify that the color ink cartridges have ink and are not empty. Sometimes, even newly replaced cartridges can be defective or empty.
By following these troubleshooting steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue preventing your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028 printer from printing in color.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
