Hi @Cloudy7,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer is displaying an “account issue” message, it’s typically related to issues with the printer’s connection to the network, the associated online account, or the printer's setup. Here’s a step-by-step guide to resolve this issue:

1. Verify Printer Account Status

Check HP Account: Ensure that your HP account (if you have one) is in good standing. You may need to log in to your HP account on the HP Smart website or through the HP Smart app to check for any notifications or issues.

Sign In Again: If you have an HP account, try signing out and then signing back in to refresh the connection.

2. Check Printer Connection

Network Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your network. If it’s connected via Wi-Fi, verify that the Wi-Fi connection is stable and that the printer is connected to the correct network.

Reconnect Printer:

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Network > Wireless Settings or similar options.
  • Select Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the prompts to reconnect your printer to your network.

3. Update Printer Firmware

Check for Updates: Visit the HP Support website and search for your printer model to see if there are any firmware updates available.

Install Updates: Follow the instructions provided to download and install any available updates.

4. Reset Printer Settings

Power Cycle:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 30 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on.

Factory Reset:

  • If the issue persists, consider performing a factory reset to restore default settings. This option is usually found under Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Settings.

5. Check Cartridge Installation

Verify Installation: Ensure that all cartridges are properly installed. Remove and reinstall the cartridges to ensure they are seated correctly.

Check Cartridge Compatibility: Make sure the cartridges you installed are compatible with your printer model.

6. Use HP Smart App

Re-add Printer:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your device and try removing and then re-adding your printer. Follow the app’s prompts to complete the setup process.

Check Account Status in App: The HP Smart app may provide additional information or troubleshooting steps related to account issues.

7. Clear Print Queue

  • Cancel Jobs: On your computer, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    • Find your printer, right-click it, and select See what’s printing.
    • Cancel any pending print jobs.

8. Check Printer’s Status

  • Printer Display: Look at the printer’s display panel for any error messages or warnings that might provide more context about the account issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
