Hi @Shroban,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A print head error on your HP Smart Tank 580 All-in-One Printer may be caused by issues with the print head alignment, incorrect installation, or clogging. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.
Restart the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for 60 seconds and plug the printer back in.
- Turn the printer back on and check if the error persists.
Check Print Head Installation
- Open the printer cover and check if the print heads are properly seated in their respective slots.
- If necessary, gently remove and reinsert the print heads to ensure proper alignment.
- Make sure that the print head cover or latch is properly closed.
Clean the Print Head Contacts
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Open the printer and carefully remove the print heads.
- Clean the electrical contacts (gold or copper-colored contacts) on the print heads using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol.
- Let the print heads dry for a few minutes and reinstall them.
- Plug the printer back in, turn it on, and check for the error.
Update the Printer Firmware
- Go to the HP Support website and check for any available firmware updates for your printer.
- If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to install the latest firmware. This may help resolve print head issues.
Run Print Head Cleaning Utility
- Use the HP Smart app or the printer control panel to run the print head cleaning utility. This will clear any clogs or ink buildup that might be causing the error.
Replace Print Heads
- If the above steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to replace the print heads. Ensure you are using genuine HP print heads for your printer model.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
