Hi @Allen98,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer is displaying a message that the printhead is missing, even though it is physically installed, there could be a few potential causes for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem.

  • Restart the Printer: Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 30 seconds and then plug it back in. Turn on the printer and check if the error message still appears.
  • Check Printhead Connections: Ensure that the printhead is securely installed in its designated slot. Remove the printhead and reinsert it carefully, making sure it is properly aligned and seated in place. Verify that any locking mechanisms are engaged correctly.
  • Clean Printhead Contacts: Ink residue or debris on the printhead contacts can interfere with communication between the printer and the printhead. Gently clean the electrical contacts on both the printhead and the printer using a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water. Be cautious not to touch the nozzles or the copper-colored contacts.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Visit the manufacturer's website and check if there are any available firmware updates for your printer model. If updates are available, download and install them following the provided instructions.
  • Reset the Printer: Performing a reset can help resolve software-related issues. Refer to your printer's manual or the manufacturer's website for specific instructions on how to perform a reset. It may involve pressing certain buttons or accessing a reset menu from the printer's control panel.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
