When I attempt to print, the computer says the printer is offline. I have tried restarting both the printer and the computer but problem still exists. I cannot print anything.

Hi @Dkier ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP ENVY 6455e All-In-One Printer is showing as offline on your MacOS 12.0 Monterey system, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

  • Check Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your Mac and that both devices are on the same network. If you're using a wired connection, make sure the Ethernet cable is securely plugged into both the printer and your router. If you're using a wireless connection, ensure that your printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
  • Restart Devices: As you've already done, restart both your printer and your Mac. Sometimes, this simple step can resolve connection issues.
  • Printer Status: Check the printer's control panel or display (if it has one) to confirm that it's not displaying any errors or warnings. Make sure there is enough paper, ink, or toner, and that there are no paper jams.
  • Printer Queue: Check the print queue on your Mac to see if there are any stuck print jobs. Sometimes, a stuck print job can cause the printer to go offline. To do this, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and then click "Open Print Queue." If there are any jobs listed, try canceling them and then try printing again.
  • Reset Printing System: If the above steps don't work, you can try resetting the printing system on your Mac. This will remove all printers from your Mac and reset the printing system to its default settings. To do this, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, right-click (or Control-click) on the list of printers, and select "Reset printing system." After resetting, you'll need to add your printer again and set it up.
  • Check for Software Updates: Ensure that your Mac and your printer have the latest software updates installed. Sometimes, compatibility issues between the printer and the operating system can cause connectivity problems.
  • Printer Driver: Make sure you have the correct printer driver installed on your Mac. You can usually download the latest driver from the HP website. Software and Drivers for HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer
  • Firewall/Antivirus Settings: Check your firewall or antivirus settings to ensure they're not blocking communication between your Mac and the printer.
  • Check Router Settings: If your printer is connected wirelessly, check your router settings to ensure that it's not blocking the printer's IP address or ports.
