@veronica591, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If the low ink indicator light continues to flash on your HP DeskJet 2842e All-in-One Printer even after changing the ink cartridge, you can follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Remove and Reinsert the Ink Cartridge:

  • Turn off the printer and turn it on again.
  • Open the printer’s ink cartridge access door.
  • Gently remove the ink cartridge and reinsert it to ensure proper seating.

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Verify that the cartridge is correctly seated in its slot and securely in place.
  • Ensure you’re using the correct HP cartridges compatible with your printer model.

Remove Tape from Cartridge:

  • Make sure that any protective tape covering the ink nozzles or the copper contacts has been removed.
  • Avoid touching the ink nozzles or contacts to prevent clogging or electrical issues.

Perform a Printer Reset:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the printer’s power cord for about one minute.
  • Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.

Check Ink Levels:

  • Ensure that the ink levels are adequate. You can check the estimated ink levels via the HP printer software installed on your computer.

Replace with Genuine HP Cartridges:

  • Ensure that you are using genuine HP cartridges for best performance. Non-HP cartridges might not be recognized properly by the printer.

Run Printhead Cleaning:

  • You can use the Printer Toolbox to perform a printhead cleaning if print quality issues are observed. This may help if the printer isn’t detecting the ink correctly.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
