Hi @MEG135,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the HP ENVY 6055 All-In-One Printer showing an E3 error code indicates a carriage jam. This can sometimes be mistaken for a paper jam. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting for E3 Error

Power Reset:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the outlet and the printer, then turn the printer back on.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Open the front cover and check for any paper stuck inside.
  • Open the rear access door or duplexer (if applicable) to inspect for any paper jams.
  • Carefully remove any paper you find, making sure to remove all small pieces.

Check the Carriage Path:

  • With the printer on, open the front cover to access the carriage area.
  • Manually move the carriage to the left and right to ensure it moves freely.
  • Look for any obstructions or debris in the carriage path and remove them if found.

Reinstall Cartridges:

  • Open the front cover and remove the ink cartridges.
  • Reinstall the cartridges, making sure they are properly seated.

Clean the Carriage and Rollers:

  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to clean the carriage and rollers.
  • Ensure everything is dry before closing the cover.

Printer Firmware Update: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure your printer firmware is up-to-date. Check the HP website for any firmware updates for your printer model.

Resolving Network Connection Issues

Restart Printer and Router:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  • Restart your router by unplugging it, waiting for 30 seconds, and plugging it back in.
  • Turn on the printer after the router has restarted.

Check Wireless Settings:

  • Ensure that the printer is within range of your wireless router.
  • On the printer control panel, go to the wireless settings menu and make sure the Wi-Fi is turned on.

Reconnect to Network:

  • On the printer control panel, navigate to the wireless setup wizard.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

Reset Network Settings:

  • On the printer control panel, go to network settings.
  • Select "Restore Network Settings" to reset the network configuration.
  • Reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network using the wireless setup wizard.

Use HP Smart App:

  • Download and install the HP Smart app on your mobile device or computer.
  • Use the app to assist in connecting your printer to the network.

I hope this helps.
