I have an error message and cannot print: *The indicated cartridges are not communicating correctly with the printer.  If this problem persists, replace the cartridges.*

Of course, I not only replaced the color cartridge once, but twice.  And still no luck!  So frustrating.....I know it is the printer and not the cartridge which looks like it is empty according to the HP App.  They are both new HP cartridges.  Any help from anyone?  It is impossible to speak with a human at HP!  Such an upset consumer!

Hi,

Can you see a circle or 3 dots above or below the error message?

A Cartridge problem means an electrical failure of the ink cartridge or from the printer side, any such have nothing much ti do with the ink level itself.

Additionally, please include a picture of your ink cartridges label and electrical contacts:

I cleaned the area as recommended, and still have the error message with the 3 dots.  No luck.  I've been researching online for several hours with no luck.  My printer is only 1 1/2 years old (barely used).  So frustrating.

Thanks for offering to help, and I wish I could get this operating, as I now have invested two new color cartridges.

Thanks, but can you see a circle or 3 dots above or below the error message?

Also, if this occurs with multiple cartridges, try following the 'Clean the ink cartridge and carriage electrical contacts' section below and check if that may help:

Hi,

I'm having the same issue with my HP OfficeJet 5255 printer. Here is a photo of the message error

I purchased a brand new HP 63XL colored ink cartridge and the printer is not working.

Can you please advise and help? HP.JPG

I will tell you that when I finally got through to HP customer service, I was told that it is the connector to the color cartridge that is part of the printer and it is defective.  They could and would not replace it!  The worst ever!  They offered me a new printer for $270 - ridiculous.  I will never purchase an HP printer again, as mine was only one and a half years old!

Thank you for sharing this. Same situation with me, we did not use this printer often and it does not even print the color well even though it says the ink is full. Sounds like the worst customer service and I too will no longer purchase HP products, such a waste of time and money.
