My reasoning for suggesting it's perhaps a different problem:

  • Original question referred to LaserJet Pro 200 M251 printer; your question is about LaserJet Pro 400 M401; they may or may not have the same 'core' firmware and drivers (I don't know).
  • Original question referred to "... All we want is to figure out how to enable bidirectional support ..."; your question stated "... while I can select Bi Directional support ..." which seems to be the exact opposite.

As regards your comment that "... Post being viewed by other members in the community…Check, in fact wayneqsr gave me kudos ...":

The original question author @wayneqsr and myself are aware of your comments because (by default) the author and any previous contributors to a question are automatically emailed whenever updates are made.

But no-one else is likely to see such an old question, unless they specifically search for it, or trawl back through lists of old questions.

How many other people have added comments since you posted yours on the 21st - none.

My disabled bidirectional support is with a Z3200ps. I was getting an error with color calibration. There was a message displayed saying to install HP Utility. Got everything I needed from Z3200's product page. Ran the software & thats I lost the bidirectional support. I did a power down & reboot of both this workstation & the Z3200. No change. The workstation next to mine has the same driver & bidirectional support enabled. I tried reinstalling the printer both locally & from a print server  & keep getting an "error 0x00000002" message & can 't complete the install .

I can type in the IP address into a brower & see the printer, but if I try to  upload a postscript file to the printer I hear the printer "wake up" but whatever I sent disappeared.

Suggestions anyone?

Dan
