Hello,

If i connect printer to runnig computer, in devices manager i cannot see printer, just device for scannig with some microsoft driver, when i run hp scan app, it hits me with error, that printer is not connected. When i reboot my computer with connected and turned on printer, after reboot of computer everytning works fine.

What can i do to fix this issue? if i need to scan or print something during the day and i have opened many apps, it`s really annoying to have to reboot my computer every time.

@pato9631

I am not familiar with this printer.

I can offer some general advice.

I found a User Guide for the series...

This appears to be a "basic" version of the printer - and yes, without Wireless.

LaserJet Pro MFP M28-M31 – User Guide

The connection is fully through the USB port.

A few places to check...

  • Printer Software is corrupted
  • Printer Software is not corrupted but there is an error in the Windows File system that makes it appear the printer software is corrupted.  This might happen if you are using Fast Start, for example.
  • The USB cable is faulty, not correctly connected
  • The port to which the cable is connected on the computer is bad or missing a driver or update
  • The printer power is connected to a surge protector

If you have not already done so,

Try / Consider...

===============================================================================

Remove > Restart > Reinstall the Full Solution Software

Uninstall the full driver printer software from Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features

Restart the computer and sign in

Install a fresh copy of the full driver printer software

Reminder:

Disconnect the USB cable between the printer and the computer before loading software.

Connect the cable only when instructed to do so, near the end of the installation process.

===============================================================================

Replace the physical USB cable between the printer and the computer.

These don't usually go "bad", I guess, but the printer is pretty much depending on that USB cable - try a new cable...

===============================================================================

Make sure the printer power is connected via a standard wall outlet (as opposed to a surge protector, for example).

Try a Power Recycle as described in this guide:  HP printer does not turn on

Excerpted

Section Internal power supply

If the printer uses an internal power supply, make sure the power module, power cord, and wall outlet are working correctly.

Perform the following tasks in the order given. Use the printer after each task to see if the issue is resolved.

Sub-Section Recycle power to the printer

Unplug the printer and then reconnect the printer to reset the power module.

  1. Disconnect the power cord from the printer.

  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet, power strip, or surge protector.

  3. After the printer has been disconnected for at least 60 seconds, reconnect the power cord to the printer.

  4. Plug the power cord directly into the wall outlet.

  5. Depending on your printer model, use the appropriate steps to start a Power On/Off cycle:

    • Printers with a Power button: Press and release the Power button. Do not hold the button down.

      Note:

      If you press and hold the Power button too long, the printer might turn on and then off without restarting. If this happens, press and quickly release the Power button again.

    • Printers with a Power switch: Press the Power switch to the Off position, and then press it to the On position.

  6. If the printer does not turn on, wait 10 seconds, and then press the Power button or reset the Power switch again.
