After sending a page to be printed, I get connection errors or that it needs user intervention. The printer is connected tot the same internet as my computer. If I shut my computer down and restart it, it will then print one file. If I go to print another file, I have to shut my computer down again and restart it. Then the next file will print,

I understand you're encountering persistent connection issues with your HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Printer on Windows 11, where you need to restart your computer each time to print. This is likely due to compatibility problems, as there are reports indicating that HP has not provided specific drivers for the ENVY 7640 that are fully compatible with Windows 11​

 

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:
 

Update Printer Firmware: Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can do this through the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP support website.Update the firmware on an HP printer
 

Reinstall the Printer:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Remove your printer and then add it back again.
  • This may help refresh the connection.

Check Printer Status:

  • Ensure that the printer is set as the default printer in your settings.
  • Make sure there are no pending jobs in the print queue that might be causing the issue.

Network Connection: Troubleshoot a Wi-Fi connection to an HP printer

  • Verify that both your printer and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Sometimes switching to a 5GHz band (if available) may improve stability.
