Hi @LaDonna44 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP DeskJet 4200 All-in-One Printer is printing blank pages despite being new and having printed fewer than 50 pages, here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow:

1. Check Ink Levels:

Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and have enough ink. Even though it's a new printer, it's good to check if the cartridges are not dry or faulty.

2. Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Open the printer and remove the ink cartridges.
  • Ensure that the cartridges are seated correctly in their respective slots and are not obstructed by any packaging materials.
  • Check the metal contacts of the cartridges for any dirt or ink residue and clean them gently with a lint-free cloth.

3. Check for Printhead Issues:

  • Some HP printers have printheads that can become clogged or misaligned.
  • Perform a printhead cleaning using the printer’s built-in maintenance functions (accessible through the printer's control panel or HP Smart app).

4. Print a Test Page:

  • Try printing a test page or diagnostic page from the printer's control panel to verify whether the printer is able to print anything at all.
  • If the test page is blank, this confirms an issue with the ink delivery system.

5. Check Printer Settings:

  • Make sure the correct paper size and type are selected in the printer settings.
  • Ensure that the correct printer is selected on your computer when printing.

6. Update Printer Firmware and Drivers:  Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Visit the HP support website and check if there are any firmware or driver updates available for your printer.
  • Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause printing issues.

7. Run Printer Diagnostics:

  • Many HP printers have a diagnostic tool that can help identify and resolve issues. You can use HP Print and Scan Doctor to run a full diagnostic check on your printer.

8. Check for Software Conflicts:

  • If you're using HP Smart or another printer management software, try printing from another application (such as Microsoft Word or Notepad) to rule out software conflicts.

9. Check Paper:

  • Ensure that the paper is loaded correctly in the tray and isn't jammed or wrinkled.
