I haven't used my Envy 4520 All in One printer much and I have only used it to print PDF documents.  Some lines of text are very faint or missing all together - usually the first line of the page or the first line of text after a blank section of the document.  Does not seem to affect graphics - text only.

 

I have used the trouble shooting guide and cleaned the print heads twice.  Still have full lines of text missing or half of the line - horizontally.

 

Any ideas?  Thank you  😃

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out.

I understand that some of the lines are missing while printing from your HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One Printer.

 

This issue could occur the cartridges are not aligned properly.

 

Don't worry as I have a few steps that should help fix this issue.

i have the same problem and no realigning, cleaning, etc, even deleting the printer and downloading again makes no difference.. new black ink was put in and first check page looked great, then this started!

Fabulous analysis. Spectacular diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.

 

I understand that you have an HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One Printer and are facing print quality issues. 

 

To assist you better, I would like to know the following information:

  • Is the color printing fine? You can check this by making a color photocopy. 
  • Have you attempted to manually clean the cartridge?

    In case you have not attempted to manually clean the cartridge then you may refer to "Step 12: Manually clean the area around the ink nozzles" from this HP article

 

If the printer continues to have print quality with the black ink cartridge then you may replace it and check how it goes. Secondly, If the printer works fine with the replacement black cartridge then you may contact our HP phone support team to get the previous black ink cartridge replaced under its warranty.
