HP OfficeJet Pro 8022e

Purchased a new OfficeJet Pro 8022e. connected it to my home internet, but had to wait a considerable time before the Instant Ink cartridges arrived. By the time the cartridges arrived, my WiFi router died and I had to replace it, and I had received an email stating my printer had been disconnected from the internet too long. So now my printer won't give me any control until it prints an alignment page, but it can't print anything (instant ink cartridges) until I connect it to the internet, but I can't have control to connect it to the internet until after it prints the alignment page. When I take the cartridges out I still have no control until I put them back in. I have tried connecting the printer to my laptop via both Ethernet and Bluetooth, but no change. I did get slightly farther connecting Bluetooth to my phone, got "Verifying..." which ran for 8 hours until I finally unplugged it. Please help.

Hi @Warner88,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your new HP OfficeJet 8022 printer is stuck in the setup process, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue.

  • Check the Printer Display: Look at the printer's display screen for any error messages or instructions. This might provide clues about what's causing the setup process to stall.
  • Power Cycle the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. Turn the printer on and see if it proceeds with the setup.
  • Reset the Printer: Some printers have a reset button or option in the settings menu. Consult your printer's manual to find out how to perform a factory reset. This can often resolve setup issues.
  • Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your Wi-Fi network. If it's not connected or the connection is weak, it might have trouble completing the setup. Re-enter your Wi-Fi credentials if needed.
  • Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model on the HP website. If there are updates, download and install them as they may fix bugs or issues related to setup.
  • Check for Paper Jams: Make sure there are no paper jams or obstructions inside the printer. Paper jams can sometimes cause setup issues.
  • Use the HP Smart App: You can use the HP Smart App on your smartphone or computer to assist with the printer setup process. This app can often simplify the setup process and guide you through it step by step.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

The printer is stuck trying to print a page, but it can't print a page until it connects to WiFi, but NO options are available on the control panel until it prints a page, which it can't print until I can get to the control panel. I have tried the HP Smart cell phone app, I have tried computer via bluetooth, I have tried computer via ethernet, I have turned it on and off many times including upplugging and waiting hours.
